Exam - Reflection

What question on the exam could you have answered better?

After looking at your notes and discussing the exam with friends, supplement one question from the exam with additional information (key points or example).

1. Restate the question to the best of your  ability
2. Present your new information.

Have a great second semester!!!

Case Study #2

Here is some information I sent out to a student who was away Tuesday.  It would be helpful to all of you.

  1. Around 6-7 pages should get it done.
  2. Page 1 is your cover page.  Same as last two written assignments
  3. Unlike the first case, handle this one by answering each question separately
  4. Each question should be on a new page.  ie. Question 2 on SWOT should be pages 2 and 3.  Then the PEST+C should be 4 and 5.
  5. Submit to Turnitin.
  6. Graph the financials to help you see trends. Line graph year by year and a Pie graph for total sales by store.
  7. Use the graphic version of each tool and put point form notes in it (1/2 page).  Then under it write your summary of the tool (ie-what is the SWOT telling you).
To encourage discussion and collaboration here are two questions to consider and comment on while you are working on the case;
  1. What challenges, problems or question are you having with the case.  Give a specific example and how you have tried to solve the problem.
  2. What suggestions or information can you share with the class.  For example, do you have a point for P on the PEST+C analysis.

PEST+C Analysis Tool

Excellent job on your first set of blog posts.  Some great discussion surrounding what we have been doing in class for the last 3 months.

Remember this is another way to show me what you have learned in class.  Recalling information, thinking critically about our discussions and making connections are what I am looking for in this forum.  Be clear and concise with your words and specific with your examples.

Here is Question 2;
In class, we discussed the PEST+C tool for analyzing the external environment. Think of a big goal you are working toward. Now take a look at what is happening around you.  Use the PEST+C to discover external factors that may help or hinder you. State and comment on one factor from 3 of the 5 categories (for example; Economic - interest rates, Social - fashion trends, and Technology-online university courses).

Answer the question yourself and then comment on a classmate's post.

Welcome to our class blog...

In this blog we will be discussing business concepts covered in class.

Here is how it will work in our class.  I will be post a question based on a concept we have worked with in class.  You will respond to the question by adding new information or giving your opinion.  Then comment thoughtfully on a classmates response.

Here we go;

During the semester, the class has learned a lot from each other through the presentation of lesson openers and the discussions they fueled in class.  What lesson opener or class discussion do you think was memorable? Why? What lesson opener or class discussion taught you something interesting or new about business? Why?
